Guardianship Scheme
KIN (Kibera In Need) with its partner Riziki runs a Guardianship Scheme which enables donors to directly help a Kibera child. For a cost of £20 per month a Guardian is linked with a child. A photograph and information about the child and family circumstances is sent to each Guardian and perodically KIN holds an Annual Guardians & Supporters Afternoon Tea at which attendees receive more information about the work of KIN. Child updates with letters and pictures are sent to Guardeians each Autumn. The child is assured of five hot meals a week, school uniform, shoes, vaccinations, school fees and books and emergency support as necessary. Each year the children go on an outing - they hope to visit the national Park on the edge of Nairobi this Summer.

Guardian Jill meets Felix and children
|
If you should visit the Kibera, as Jill did with her son, Andrew you will find that children who have been sponsored have an improved quality of life and reflect a new and positive outlook. Jill was able to meet Felix with some of his siblings at his school in Kibera.
Since the launch of KIN in January 2007 we are now supporting 142 children through the Guardianship scheme. Naturally we would like to increase our sponsorship, the next objective being to reach 200 children. We welcome any commitment you may feel able to make. Please look at some examples of Kibera Children and their circumstances and should you consider supporting us try the menu buttons under "How to help".
