Abdul
Abdul, 7 years old is in class 1 at Kibera and under the care of the grandmother Amina Saad. Abdul's mum is called Ngina Saad. She conceived Abdul while still in school. She is not employed and also dependant on her mum. Abdul's father deserted them several years ago.. Abdul's performance in school is average. The fee is Kshs. 100 shillings per month. He seems to know about his father negligence and has little family history on how the mother dropped out school: this he expresses with a lot of bitterness. Abdul's mum in the effort of trying to earn a living so that she can be able to support him and the siblings ends up selling her body and it is not surprising that the brother Abdalla and the sister Leila are from different fathers and under the care of their grandmother. The grandmother is bitter about the daughter but embraces the grand children with love. She hopes that Abdul will live a better life, studies and gets a good job to cater for him and the family. Abdul's grandma was born in 1951 in Nairobi, she was not lucky enough to study .which never the less did not hinder her from doing business. She has for a long time done small scale business of selling fried potatoes and the little she gets she shares with her children and grandchildren.This though is not sufficient
